Ready or not here come the Holidays dashing on in…So we ask again…what is it for YOU? Fa La La La La…!? Or OH NO…here we go!
Regardless of where you fall on this…we find ourselves in the midst of another booming and bustling holiday season. So… as we all enjoy some extra glimmering lights and celebrations…we are going to aim to wrap up this gift of cognitive distortion studies and top it off with a beautiful “bow” of your color choice…while sprinkling in some hopeful “enlightenment” to glow you through!
As much as it depends on you…Will you aspire to change negative thoughts into positive ones? Are you able to aim toward changing your thoughts in order to transform your outlook on life? Cognitive distortions feel real and are very different than just feeling discontent, distortions are disruptive. More than Murphy’s law of stating anything that can go wrong will go wrong, the truth is and remains…sometimes bad does happen, we find ourselves swirling in an emotional uproar which we did not sign up for.
We must focus on what we CAN do and how we are able to approach navigating a situation while keeping health and wholeness at the forefront. Practice makes permanent. A long time belief of ours is a conviction of the way we go about tasks, approach life, living, conversations, and interactions matters and impacts situations greatly. The ongoing goal remains to consistently, diligently, and persistently work toward mindfully finding and accepting the truth of the matter and journeying forward from there.
Many of us are prone to habitually thinking in ways which are inaccurate, irrational, and self-defeating. We must protect ourselves from this negative “self-talk” and unnecessary stress and anxiety. By practicing to change negative thoughts into positive ones, we will improve and stabilize our mood and overall well-being and this will become permanent and lasting!
Remember to be diligent toward affirming thoughts and statements. An affirmation is a statement describing the way you would want your life or self to be at its very best. Setting goals to get there along with repeated affirmations can have tremendous power to act as a very positive force in our lives.
If you are interested and desire an outline to help you when creating affirmations, here you go:
So…Let’s go for it…and seek to be mindful and intentional through our interactions as we remain on the lookout for self-FULL reactions on our part…changing them into mind-FULL interactions with self and others. Making every moment count matters!
Remember even if you feel dismay…it does not have to lead you down a path of disarray!
Focus and purpose on what you can do and stay on the path moving and growing forward as a lifelong learner remaining willing to adjust your thought process. When you feel like you don’t add up or you’re not enough or cannot reconfigure how to BE enough...transition away and off of that slippery slope and find alternatives to cope positively through affirmations and beyond!
Processing through life
Feels like navigating strife
Filter through to find the joy
Focus on good and employ
Refrain from jumping into negativity
Keep on questing toward positivity
Catastrophe and calm reason
May not merge in each season
Push through and say you will
Even on standby find a calm still
Yes maybe you shoulda or coulda
But let go of the revolving woulda
Grit and persevere
Mindfully drop fear
Inward and outward connectivity
Offers refreshed and renewed ability
Dig deep to be flexible and your soul nourish
Revel in this newfound agility and flourish
Challenge comes causing a tangle
Let it with your JOYS intermingle
When hope is distant without a WIN
Gear up to find the next path to begin
With affirmation press through
Recalling often all you CAN do!
